Social Justice and Development Internship Program
Tuition and program fees for 2013 are $11,250. For 2014, tuition and fees will be $11,550. This fee covers airport pick-up, classes, books, internship placement and supervision, donation to internship organization, room and partial board (breakfast and dinner), laundry service, round-trip transportation from San José to internship sites in Costa Rica or Nicaragua, field trip expenses and a weeklong group trip to Nicaragua (excluding visa related fees).
A non-refundable deposit of $500, due upon confirmation of acceptance, will be applied toward the total fee. The remaining balance is due at the beginning of the program. After the program begins, a partial refund of tuition will be considered, depending on the time elapsed. After 5 weeks, no refund will be granted.
Field Program: Environment and Sustainable Development
Tuition and program fees for 2013 are $11,250. For 2014, tuition and fees will be $11,550. These fees cover airport pick-up, classes, books, room and partial board (breakfast and dinner), all room and board during Block II and III, laundry service, computer and lab fees, a weeklong group trip to Nicaragua, and all course travel (excluding visa related fees).

Language and Society Immersion Program
Tuition and program fees for 2013 are $11,250. For 2014, tuition and fees will be $11,550. These fees cover airport pick-up, classes, books, room and partial board (breakfast and dinner), laundry service, a weeklong group trip to Nicaragua, and all course travel (excluding visa related fees), practicum placement and supervision, and a donation to the practicum organization.
A non-refundable deposit of $500, due upon confirmation of acceptance, will be applied toward the total fee. The remaining balance is due at the beginning of the program. After the program begins, a partial refund of tuition will be considered, depending on the time elapsed. After 5 weeks, no refund will be granted.
Summer Internship and Cultural Training Program
Tuition and program fees for 2013 are $4,650. For 2014, tuition and fees will be $4,650. This fee includes airport pick-up, three weeks of intensive Spanish instruction, class materials, room and partial board (breakfast and dinner), laundry service, round-trip transportation to internship sites, consultations and on-site visits, monitoring of the internship, a donation to the organization or community for supervision of the intern and group field trips.
The tuition is paid in two installments. The first, a non-refundable deposit of $500, is due upon notification of acceptance. The remaining balance is due at the beginning of the program. After the program begins, no refund will be made of tuition or of any part of the program fee already expended on behalf of the student.
Spanish Language Intensive Course
The total cost for the four-week intensive course for 2013 is $1,990 during the high season (January – February; May-July; September-October) and $1,790 during the low season (March-April; August; November-December). This price includes airport pick-up, all classes, books, all field trips, activities, lectures, volunteer placements, community service activities, room with partial board (breakfast and dinner) and laundry service.
There is a 10% discount after the first month (except during low season months). Students staying for less than four weeks pay a weekly rate which is slightly higher. All deposits and tuition payments are refundable up to two weeks before classes begin (in case of January, 4 weeks notification needed). Once classes begin, no refunds will be made.
Personal Expenses
The following expenses are not included in program fees: round trip transportation to San Jose, Costa Rica, personal or weekend travel, lunches, health insurance, medical expenses, or visa fees. Students should budget $300-$600 per month for expenses not included in program fees.
Remember that there is a $28.00 exit tax from the Juan Santamaria International Airport. Be sure to save enough for this tax and for your taxi ride to the airport at the end of the program.
