Programs: Spanish Language Intensives

«This has been one of the most beautiful, inspirational and educational experiences of my life. ICADS did a great job at educating students about the culture and current events here in Costa Rica.

This program is wonderful and a great learning experience! In addition, the facilities here are gorgeous, clean, and safe. And the staff is friendly and always willing to help students. The professors are excited to teach, which makes the students excited to learn. Thank you so much for educating me!

Spanish Student
Immersion Program
Spring 2009.

Overview

Our Spanish students come from all over the world. They represent all ages, education levels, jobs and professions. What our students have in common is a shared sensitivity to the beauty and challenges of Central America and a desire to learn more about the region and its people through language training and experiential learning.

Spanish classes consist of an intensive five-days-a-week, four-hours-per-day regimen (with a 20 minute break each day) geared to the abilities and needs of each participant. Classes are taught by native Spanish-speaking professionals with many years of experience in teaching Spanish as a foreign language. Students are taught in classes with no more than three other classmates.

Upon arrival, students are tested and placed into classes according to their levels of language proficiency. This assures the active participation of each student in an atmosphere that is stimulating, supportive, and fun for learning.

Our Spanish program is based on the ACTFL levels, and students learn and develop the four communication skills of reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Through superior-quality materials developed at ICADS and a variety of methods employed by experienced staff according to the needs of the students, our focus is 100% communicative.

Afternoon activities supplement the language learning experience, and expose students to culture and to issues of importance in Costa Rica. For more information about afternoon activities, click here.
